Series Firsts

• Crowd/ouendan audio is revamped in this entry, improving the audio presentation in-game.
• Pennant Mode is extended from three years to ten in length. New features for discovering free agents and foreign players are added.
• Soreike! Home Run-kun mode is added as a sub-mode under Home Run Challenge. You travel the distance of each home run you hit, attempting to visit each NPB park and unlocking Home Run-kun as a player if you complete them all. It never returned after this game.
• First game in the series released for Nintendo GameCube.

Secrets

• Unlock two extra parks in exhibition mode - Go to the main menu and enter this variant of the Konami code: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, start. You will hear a sound if entered correctly.
