Bringing R.B.I. Back
No real news this week, so it’s time to show off my Diamond Dynasty team, which I think is one step below telling people about your dreams or your fantasy baseball teams. Behold, the R.B.I. Baseball Enjoyers:
I made a version of the NES start menu R.B.I. Baseball logo for the uniforms. I have tried to upload it to the The Show logo vault but get an “unhandled server exception” every time.
The players on the team are all ’80s and ’90s guys who would be in the original Tengen R.B.I. Baseball series (there might be a few guys in the bullpen that aren’t quite in that time range). I put a slight preference on players who were on the original 1983 game’s rosters, like Ripken, McGwire, Trammell, Rice, and Davis. Will eventually unlock Valenzuela and Gary Carter and add them to the team.
It’s been fun to put together and represent the R.B.I./Famista lifestyle online. I never posted here about it I don’t think but last year my theme team was the Italian-American All-Stars, which had some weaker positions than this one. Maybe I’ll come up with a better idea before next time, but I’d like to do just an MLB 06 The Show roster next time if there are enough of those specific oldies in-game.

YouTube Viewing Guide
- YouTube is dying for everyone to use their Shorts feature, less-than-30-second vertical orientation videos sort of like TikTok or Instagram Reels. I’ve started a playlist of Shorts that are just home run highlights. It’s okay I guess? Let me know if they’re actually bad and drive you crazy?
- MLB 2004 (PS2) Gameplay. I’ve played a bunch of these games but I’m still confused about the hitting system in the 989 Sports MLB games. You get to see the place where the pitch will start, and your swing cursor is incredibly slow, so it seems unavoidable that fastballs are easy to hit and everything else is nearly impossible. Maybe I need to get good.
- Out of the Park Baseball 24 (PC) ’61 Yankees vs. ’86 Mets. Really I just wanted to try out the text-to-speech option in OOTP (it’s okay) but this was a fun what-if historical match-up.
- eBaseball Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2020 (PS4) Pawafes Mode Gameplay. Pawafes is a great roguelike mode in the recent Pawapuro games, and the 2020 edition has an aviation theme and an opera singer guy, both big pluses for me.
