Series Firsts
- For the first time in the series, all 12 NPB teams are independent and playable. The Namco Stars and Major Leaguers also return, making 14 playable teams. The number of pitchers per roster increased from four to six.
- This game now features four stadiums, whereas previous titles in the series only included one.
- This is the first title in the series to let you change the batting order for your team.
- This game adds a small dive or jump move on defense when pressing the A button.
- A Team Edit function is added to let players create their own custom team, with custom names and a set number of attribute points to be split among the players. (However, with no battery backup, this custom team must be entered again if you turn the console off...)
- Starting with this game until the first Super Famista, player names are fictionalized by replacing syllables or using pseudonyms, to avoid license disputes.
