MLB The Show 19 is the 2019 edition of the simulation-oriented Sony-published The Show baseball video game series. At the time, it was the best-selling baseball game in the United States in history according to The NPD Group, passing MVP Baseball 2004.

Description

MLB The Show 19 continued the series’ trend of deprioritizing the formerly-popular Franchise mode and adding additional features and options to Diamond Dynasty, the online card-collecting mode similar to Ultimate Team in FIFA and Madden.

Bryce Harper was announced as the game’s cover athlete while he was a free agent, so an initial version of the cover art showed Harper in a generic white hoodie rather than any specific team’s uniform. The same day that Bryce Harper’s free agent contract with the Philadelphia Phillies was announced, San Diego Studio revealed the final cover art showing Harper in a Phillies uniform and helmet.

Roster

MLB The Show 19 includes full 40-man rosters for each major league franchise. Each MLB team’s AA and AAA affiliates are also included, though any players on those teams that were not at any point on the MLB 40-man roster has a fictional name and appearance. Thirty-plus legends players are also included, both for your teams in the card-collecting Diamond Dynasty mode, in exhibition play on the Legends teams, and optionally in Franchise mode as free agents or selections in a Fantasy draft.

Series Firsts

New mode March to October is introduced. In this mode, a full season is split into a series of pivotal moments and decisions, allowing players to complete a season in a few hours.
Moments mode is newly-created for MLB The Show 19. Moments ask the player to recreate famous moments from baseball history by completing specific goals in pre-built scenarios.

Intro Cinematic

There are four different intro cinematics in MLB The Show 19, one for each season (spring, summer, fall, winter). These intros were added to the game in time with the seasons in 2019, so if you play a fully-patched version of the game now, you’ll only ever see the winter one. =
