Downtown River City Baseball Story ~Play Ball, Kunio!~ is a baseball game and part of the multi-genre and multi-sport Kunio-kun series, including games as various as River City Ransom and Nintendo World Cup. The game was originally released in Japan only, then released in North America with an official English translation as part of the Super Technos World retro compilation in 2025.

The player selects a pitch or swing type from a menu before each pitch. Your selection does not appear on screen to allow for two-player competitive, even when playing against the computer. Just press the D-pad down as many times as needed to get to the number of the pitch or swing type you want.
