Bad News Baseball is an action baseball game for the Nintendo Entertainment System by Namco. Despite the title that references youth league baseball film The Bad News Bears and sandlot-looking cover art, the game is set in a fictional 12-team pro baseball league that borrows city names from MLB.

The game is adapted from Tecmo's Gekijou!! Stadium, released for the Family Computer in December 1989.

Girls Mode

A game mode for replacing all players with girls is advertised on the box art and magazine advertisements. The instruction manual includes the steps required to activate this mode:

  • Hold Down+Left on the Player 1 controller
  • Hold Up on the Player 2 controller
  • Keeping the buttons held on both controllers, press the NES Reset button

This updates all rosters for the game's twelve teams with new names and players and changes the character art. The cursor on the main menu becomes a heart icon.
