Gameplay Modes
- Official Game (Koutaisen) - Single-player, two-player, or Watch mode. Can be configured to be 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 innings. A password will appear at the end of each game to allow continual play with that team, with the goal being to beat each other team in order.
- Intrasquad Game (Kouhakusen) - Choose a single team, which drafts its players into two nine-man rosters and plays against itself. Get ready for lots of position player pitching.
- All-Star - A single game between Central League and Pacific League All-Star Teams, with semi-randomized "fan voting" determining the rosters.
- Draft - Add two rookies pulled from the special teams to each NPB roster, then play with the edited rosters. You can see the position and overall skill rating (S-D) of players. Any teams that choose the same player have a random draw to determine who gets the player, so there is some potential strategy in avoiding the top names.
Roster
This is the first game in the Famista series to use real NPB team names. This is also the first game in the series since the original Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium to use unaltered real player names.
Rosters for the twelve NPB teams reflect a mixture of 1991 and 1992 rosters. Some 1991-1992 off-season transactions are reflected in-game while others are not.
Two special teams are available in the team select screen normally:
- Namco Stars - Characters from Namco games
- Americans - Players named after American cities, with stat lines taken from Major League Baseball players of the time
Twelve more special teams are accessed by hovering over an NPB team then pressing L or R. These teams use stat lines representing legendary players from that NPB team, but the player names are changed to match the team's theme. These special teams can only play against each other, not against the normal rosters.
| NPB Team | Special Team | Theme of Player Pseudonyms |
|---|---|---|
| Buffaloes | Jackaloos | Mammals |
| Blue Wave | Submarines | Shinto and Buddhist deities |
| Carp | Reds | Things that are red |
| Dragons | Unicorns | Mythical creatures |
| Fighters | Kings | Card and board game terms |

| Hawks | Eagles | Birds |
| Lions | Irons | Imperial Japanese Navy ships |
