Super Mega Baseball 4 is the first game in the Super Mega Baseball series released after EA Sports acquired developer Metalhead Software in 2021, and the first in the series to include licensed former major league stars.

Two separate default leagues are included, a fictional player league similar to the rosters of the past three Super Mega Baseball games, and a league filled with licensed former major league players, roughly grouped by era.
