Prospi 2024-2025 coming in September
Konami released a new “Stadium Details” trailer, which includes some new gameplay footage and a release date: September 19th, 2024.
The official website also got tons of new detail, translated to English here on Gematsu.
Here’s a very quick summary of the interesting new stuff:
- myBALLPARK – This is a new GM mode that will eventually have its own separate free-to-play download, similar to what Konami has done with eFootball. We can probably expect something like Ultimate Team, though with player and stadium upgrade mechanics. And like most Prospi modes, it has JPGs of real women as secretaries, a feature they’re advertising heavily.
- Hakkyuu no Kiseki (Baseball Miracle) – Prospi has had Koushien high school modes in previous games, but this one looks to be expanded and very similar to the popular Eikan Nine mode from Pawapuro.
- Pennant – This Prospi equivalent of a franchise mode will now support an unlimited number of seasons, instead of a maximum of 30.
The game is still only releasing in Japan, which is no big problem for PlayStation 5, a region-free console. But the Steam region lock is still in place, so the PC version will be hard or impossible to procure outside of Asia.
So wait, why is there a Jujutsu Kaisen baseball game?
Admittedly I had not read or seen any Jujutsu Kaisen before recording Jujutsu R.B.I. So in case you’re like me, here is the context behind the game, from the manga:
So yes, the scene from around 1:13 in the video below (also in the thumbnail) is scripted and matches the manga exactly:
YouTube Viewing Guide
- R.B.I. Baseball 17 (Xbox One) Gameplay – R.B.I. Baseball must have strong SEO or a lot of brand recognition still. Videos of these not-quite-even-mediocre games are always near the top of my channel in views for some reason.
- MLB The Show 21 (Xbox One) CPU vs. CPU Gameplay – Sims like this make me wonder if The Show has a little rubber banding in it. It seems like the games are unusually often close and interesting until the end.
- Yakyuudou 4 (PC) Intro – Y2K-era Japan is the king of aesthetics, even for PC baseball management games.
