Pawapuro-kun and the opening theme singer at Tokyo Game Show

Friday Starter – Retro Flea Market and Tokyo Game Show

  • I attended the Retro Flea Market 2022, hosted by Limited Run Games outside of their storefront in Cary, North Carolina. Lots of vendors with used games there, so I went around and haggled for old baseball games I didn’t have in my collection yet. My baseball-related purchases from the event: Baseball for Famicom, HardBall III for SNES, Ken Griffey Jr.’s Winning Run, MLB Pennant Race, World Series Baseball 98 for Saturn, Super Batter Up, Backyard Baseball for PS2, Triple Play Baseball for PS2, Pro Yakyuu Team de Asobou! for Dreamcast, and the previous-gen PS3 version of MLB 15 The Show.

  • I watched the Powerful Pro Yakyuu presentation at this year’s Tokyo Game Show on YouTube. Sorry folks, there were no new announcements on the mysterious English-language WBC-affiliated game scheduled to come out next year. But if you wanted to watch a lady in a schoolgirl outfit and a fox mask sing the theme songs to two Pawapuro games while losing her voice and hanging out with a Pawapuro-kun mascot, then awesome! The only other thing in their show was two Vtubers playing a full game against each other. Interesting!
